{Happy Homemaker Monday- 2012 #5}

Thank you for joining me again on this wonderful Happy Homemaker Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. Even though Hubby had to work (A LOT!) we had a good one. We made the best of the time we all had together. We went to the park for an hour on Saturday and went to church on Sunday. The weather has gotten pretty cold so we couldn't do much else.

The Weather:::
It has gotten pretty chilly here in the last couple of days. As a matter of fact, Hubby had to start his car and let it warm up to get the ICE off of his windows before he left for work this morning. Of course, he leaves for work at 6am.

On My Reading Pile:::
Beyond Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury. I just love her books. It will probably only take me 2 or 3 days to finish this book. It would be shorter if I didn't have little ones I had to tend to...LOL!

On My TV:::
Right now...Chuggington for Bear to watch while Ducky is still sleeping. I probably won't get to watch any TV today myself. We recently got rid of Netflix (b/c it never worked for us on our Wii or computer) so that will get help me to not watch TV as much :)

On The Menu For This Week:::
Monday- fend for yourself (I have other plans...see "Something Fun To Share")
Tuesday- chicken Parmesan with spaghetti and marinara sauce and french bread and a side salad
Wednesday- leftovers
Thursday- wacky breakfast
Friday- meatloaf pockets with scalloped potatoes and peas
Saturday- crock pot taco soup with corn bread
Sunday- leftovers

On My To Do List:::
Before I have my afternoon plans, I have to fold and put away all the laundry we did over the weekend. Then, I need to exercise and get the kids ready for Poppy coming over to babysit them for a couple of hours til Hubby comes home. I just want to make sure the house is tidy before I leave :)

What I am Sewing/Creating:::
I have been working on crocheting...I am terrible at it. I have even had someone show me personally how to do it. I have looked at all of the youtube videos and I have gone to all the websites. I think I might try to find a class or something. Maybe practice makes perfect...we shall see. I do enjoy doing it though!

Looking Around The House:::
I see a bunch of toys that weren't cleaned up last night before bed (we will also be doing that this morning). I also see Bear playing with our dog Marley. He is having a whole conversation with her. It is so cute. I also see a tunnel of pillows in my living room that Bear and Ducky made last night. It is their "fort". I left it up so they could play with it today.

From The Camera:::

Something Fun To Share:::
Here is the big news...my sister is having her baby today and I get to go to the hospital for the BIG event. I am so excited. I don't know when she will have the baby...but I am hoping to be in the room with her when she delivers. I have never seen an actual birth. I really want to. She was in the room when I delivered Ducky...so it's only fair right?? We will see. I won't be sad if not. I am just glad to have another little one in the family to love. I will post pics next time (maybe for Friday Favorites!).

On My Prayer List:::
My little sister, of course, having the baby today. Also, my MIL is in Iowa visiting her mom who had a heart attack recently and some other health problems.

Bible Verse/Devotional:::
"Be kind and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." -Ephesians 4:2
(I have made this verse my life verse for this year)

A devotional I am doing is: 31 Days of Love Challenge
*It is a devotional/challenge to gain love and respect for your husband. To fall more deeply in love with him. It is wonderful!*

{Friday Favorites- #4}

Welcome to Friday Favorites. Besides having something to show you today that is my favorite thing, I also want to say that Friday is one of my favorite days as well. It is a day that I know my husband will be home for 2 days with us. It is also the beginning of the weekend! Here is my Friday Favorites:

Blowing Bubbles!!!

We have had exceptional weather here this week. I have taken the boys out everyday. Yesterday we went to church for a MOPS meeting in the morning and the wonderful workers there gave Bear some bubbles to take home. Well, that was so perfect! Ducky just squealed with delight as Bear blew bubble after bubble. They played for about an hour. Mommy had to take a turn every now and then so Bear could enjoy them too. Do you like to watch your children blow bubbles? The simplest things in the world are sometimes the greatest. Thank you Moppett workers for the wonderful bubbles for my kids. They LOVE them!!

{Cooking Thursday}

Well, today is Cooking Thursday and I am going to share one of my favorite comfort food recipes. At least it is around here. Hubby and I both LOVE chili and tacos. So, I said why not put them together (well sorta).

Crock pot Taco Soup

1-lb. ground beef
1-onion, chopped
1-(16oz.) can chili beans
1-(15oz.) can kidney beans
1-can corn
1-(8oz.) can tomato sauce
2-cups water
2-(14.5oz.) cans diced tomatoes
1-pkg. taco seasoning
1-pkg. Hidden Vally Ranch Dressing (dry mix)

1. Brown meat and onion in medium skillet; drain.

2. Place beef mixture in crock pot along with all other ingredients. Stir until dry seasonings are well blended.

3. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-6 hours.

4. Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream, and/or chopped green onions.

Enjoy!

{Happy Homemaker Monday- 2012 #4}

Happy Homemaker Monday everyone! I am linking up with Diary of a SAHM again. I hope you all had a great weekend! It was an OK weekend here. Hubby had to work Saturday so he didn't get home til late afternoon. We had church on Sunday (which was awesome!) and then we all came home and tried to take naps. The kids were successful, the adults...well, let's just say the cat and the dog wanted to be obnoxious! LOL!

The Weather:::
It is raining and cloudy (yet again). We have had a very gloomy winter. Although, it hasn't been that cold so I can't complain. It is about 42 degrees right now. It is supposed to get to the 50's.

On My Reading Pile:::
The Old Schoolhouse Magazine! I love this magazine. It is only digital now, but I got my last print copy in the mail a few days ago and I am one happy girl. I am also reading a book about Revelation. It is incredible. It is for a review.

On My TV:::
Right now- Dora
Later- my normal Monday night shows I watch with Hubby. Probably not much else.

On The Menu For This Week:::
Monday- leftover white chicken chili and cornbread
Tuesday- cheeseburgers and tator tots
Wednesday- oven-baked BBQ chicken, peas, and rice pilaf
Thursday- pizza night
Friday- going to my mom's house since Hubby has inventory and won't be home til very late :(
Saturday- roasted chicken with herb noodles and a veggie side
Sunday- crockpot potato soup and crusty French bread

On My To Do List:::
Clean out my pantry (already did that), fold and put away clean laundry (already did that), clean the hallway bathroom, wipe down sink in my bathroom, and sweep the kitchen and toy room floors.

What I Am Sewing/Creating:::
I have been making quilt yo-yo's for the past week. I am not sure what I will do with them, but I have some ideas. What do you think?

These are the first two that I did. I am actually a lot better at it
now, but haven't taken any pics yet. The middle is a lot
tighter on the most recent ones. Aren't they cute!?

Looking Around The House:::
I see Bear sitting on top of the toy box (with all of the toys out of it!) and Ducky is playing with all the toys. I also see an empty sink (thanks for doing the dishes Hubby).

From The Camera:::

Something Fun To Share:::
I will be an Auntie again next Monday!! My little sister is going in to be induced to have my 5th niece. I have 9 nephews also! Yay for babies!

On My Prayer List:::
My little sister and the new baby. Also, a friend of mine from MOPS had a stroke last week (actually a couple of them). Please pray that God will heal her completely.

Bible Verse/Devotional:::
I recently found a website with a free devotional. I am starting that one today. I am also going to start reading in Galatians today.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present you bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." -Romans 12:1

{Sacred Sunday}

I think I have mentioned before that I love to listen to sermons by Pastor Mark Driscoll. He is the pastor at Mars Hill Church. He and his wife, Grace, have recently written a book called Real Marriage. It is a resource about marriage and what Jesus says about marriage in the Bible.

If you can, please try to get this book and read it for yourself. My husband and I plan on buying it soon. I am sharing this because this book goes along with Pastor Mark's newest sermon series "Real Marriage". HERE is the link so you can check it out for yourself. He is an excellent speaker and he and his wife are very real with their marriage.

Listen to the sermon and check out the Mars Hill website for more of his sermons. You will not be disappointed.

{Friday Favorites}

Today on Friday Favorites I will be sharing one of my favorite things in my house. My great-grandmother (who I called "Nanny") passed away several years ago. When she did, my mom got a bunch of her things. I asked my mom if I could have these specific items because it is something I remember seeing in her house every time we would visit. I don't remember much, but I do remember these items along with her broccoli casserole (yum!).

Here they are:

It may not look like much to some people, but these bears bring me so many fun memories of going to her house. She actually kept them in coca-cola and dr. pepper bottle crates (that I also got). She hung the crates on her wall and had a slot for each bear. The crates got damaged when we moved so I found this shelf at a thrift store. These aren't even all of the bears (not even half). I looked through them and found my favorites. I will rotate them out now and then. Here are some close-ups:

I have this shelf hanging in my kitchen so I can look at them often. I mean, I do spend most of my time in the kitchen after all. Haha!

{Cooking Thursday}

I am going to be linking up with Sandra at Diary of a SAHM. I wanted to share my recipe for Chick-fil-a style chicken nuggets. If you have a Chick-fil-a near you, you will appreciate this recipe. Everyone at my house ate these nuggets up like they were the best food ever. I also went to Chick-fil-a and got some of their honey mustard sauce...mmmm...it's the best. I will have to come up with a recipe for the honey mustard sauce next. We had these last night and it was like eating out, but at home.

Here is how I make Homemade Chicken Nuggets:

Ingredients-
Chicken breast (boneless, skinless)
Club crackers (I use whole wheat) crushed
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. dried parsley
2 cups milk
oil for frying (whatever kind you like, I use canola)

1. Cut chicken breast (as many as you would like for your family) into bite sized pieces.
2. Pour milk into a glass bowl and soak the chicken chunks for about 10 minutes.
3. While the chicken is soaking, turn on your frying pan to medium high heat and add oil.
4. Mix together the crackers, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and parsley.
5. Coat the chicken nuggets with the cracker mixture right before putting in the frying pan.
6. After coating the nuggets, place in the hot pan and fry until chicken is no longer pink.
7. Place on a plate lined with a paper towel to catch any excess oil.
(I forgot to take pics of them finished b/c they were gone so quickly!)
8. Serve with honey mustard sauce (if that's your thing).

I just had to add another picture. This is my window in my kitchen. I love it because I can see outside while I am doing the dishes and it just brightens my day.

I hope you enjoy these yummy chicken nuggets. My whole family ate them (and I have one little boy, Bear, who is extremely picky).

{What A Life}

Look at these two silly animals. I am relaxing for a few minutes while the kid's take a nap and they are just watching me. This is Marley (the little white dog) and Kittles (the pretty cat). They like to fight sometimes, but I catch them cuddling with each other every now and then. What a life they have. Oh, not to mention that is my quilt. LOL! Just wanted to share something silly today. Hope you are having a great day!

{A Mile In His Shoes Review & Giveaway}

A Mile In His Shoes is an inspirational movie perfect for family movie night. I watched it by myself and liked it so much I let my MIL borrow it the next day. Dean Cane plays a baseball coach for the Ohio River Rats named Arthur Murphy (Murph). He is told by his upper management that he needs to find another pitcher. He is sent to Indiana to interview this pitcher but has car trouble along the way. He meets an extraordinary kid named Michael James Tussler (Mickey). Mickey doesn't know he is a great pitcher because he lives on a farm in the country. He also has Asperger's Syndrome. Murph pays no attention to his disability and asks Mickey's parents if he can come back to Indiana with him to play on the team. When they agree Murph takes Mickey under his wing and teaches him all about baseball.

I truly enjoyed watching this story unfold. It really taught me a lot about Asperger's Syndrome and how to react to certain things they do. Murph sees through the disability and right to Mickey's heart. He teaches the whole team about how we should treat one another no matter what. It was very touching.

About Mile in His Shoes:
From the director of "Angels In the Outfield" comes an inspiring story about a special boy with an amazing gift, and the coach who believed. Dean Cain and Luke Schroder star in the gmc movie based on the book "The Legend of Mickey Tussler".

If you would like a chance to see this movie for yourself I am GIVING a copy of this movie away. All you have to do is visit one of the following websites and let me know why you would like to see this movie.

{Happy Homemaker Monday 2012 #3}

Welcome back to Happy Homemaker Monday. I will be linking up with Sandra at Diary of a SAHM.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a very busy one. On Saturday, my best friend "Mrs. A" and I went to a women's boot camp. It is a program called R.I.P.P.E.D. Let me tell you I felt ripped after that workout. Our friend does this class every Saturday at her house. She is so sweet to do that. It was torture getting through it, but I had so much fun. Believe it or not, I am going to continue to go when time allows. After the class, "Mrs. A" and I went to Starbucks and got "skinny latte's". We needed to extra boost. I left from there to come home and shower and get ready for a baby shower for my little sister...whew! You would think that was the end of my night. NOT! We then cleaned up from the shower and went to a birthday dinner for my husband's best friend. It was a lot of fun. But I am tired. Not to mention Bear woke up at 3am on Sunday morning screaming because he thought there was a dinosaur in his room trying to eat him. So...he ended up in our bed. Poor little guy.

Here is my REAL post. LOL!

The Weather:::
It's COLD and partly cloudy with a little breeze going. Not too bad.

On My Reading Pile:::
Fierce Beauty by Kim Meeder (excellent book so far)

On My TV:::
Hubby and I watch a few shows on Monday nights. We may or may not get to them. I do recommend you check out Dean Cane's (the TV Superman) new movie A Mile In His Shoes. I am reviewing this movie and giving one away. Look for that post tomorrow :)

On The Menu For This Week:::
Monday- leftover Brunswick stew (Hubby works late)
Tuesday- tator tot casserole (I am using the Duggar recipe)
Wednesday- homemade chicken nuggets with mac and cheese and a veggie
Thursday- steak stir-fry with rice
Friday-goulash with salad and French bread
Saturday-leftovers
Sunday- white chicken chili with cornbread

On My To Do List:::
I really need to clean my bedroom. It needs to be re-organized, dusted, and de-cluttered. I am making this a priority this week. I also want to get my children's rooms straightened up a little more. With all of the festivities this past weekend, they have toys everywhere! The laundry also needs to be folded and put away. Hubby was nice enough to wash and dry it all. I guess I can at least fold it and put it away. Haha.

What I Am Sewing Or Creating:::
Well, since I finished my quilt last week I really haven't been working on anything else. I do want to go to the fabric store and pick up some more batting and backing for my new quilt I will be starting soon. I am also going to give myself a refresher course on crocheting. I need to start doing that again...it is fun!

Looking Around The House:::
I see toys everywhere (even though they have been picked up a dozen times today), my dog sleeping next to me, my cat sleeping next to her, and a sink full of dishes calling my name.

From The Camera:

My sister holding up an outfit from her shower. Can you see her belly behind it?

Something Fun To Share:::
I made homemade Red Velvet Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for my sister's baby shower and everyone LOVED them. I have had people texting me and calling me for 2 days asking for the recipe. It was my first time ever making Red Velvet anything. I have to admit they were really good. My sister's favorite dessert is Red Velvet cake. So, I made them and put pink sprinkles on the top of the icing. Here is a pic:

My Prayer List:::
My MIL is traveling across the country to take care of her mother who is ill. Family and friends who aren't saved. Thankful for so many blessings.

Bible Verse/Devotional:::
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 8:38-39
*This verse has meant so much to me lately*

Have a wonderful week!

Kristy

{Friday Favorites #2}

My Newest Quilt

I absolutely LOVE to quilt and sew. My wonderful MIL got me started about a year ago. She bought me a quilt top already made. That's all I had to do was add batting and backing and finish it. You can read all about it and view it HERE. I love using it everyday.

After I finished that quilt, I decided I wanted to try doing one on my own. The one pictured above is the finished quilt. I completed it on Wednesday and I am so excited. It is a small lap quilt. I think I will hang it on a wall to display it (at least until I have a baby girl to give it to). Haha! I can dream can't I? I love the color pink. It is my favorite. I also love the color combinations that you can do with pink. Green, brown, red, orange, etc.

See, my boys and dog even liked it. They wanted to snuggle up in it already (even though it's girly). I really enjoy sewing and making something with my hands. I am going to start crocheting again as well. That is, after I finish my next quilt. My MIL got another quilt top for me to complete for Christmas. She also got herself and my SIL one to do. We are going to have fun having quilting bees together. What fun!!

God Bless,

Kristy

{Thankful Thursday}

This is an old pic...but here she is! And, there I am! LOL!

Today I am sooooo thankful for my best friend "Mrs. A". She is so wonderful. Her friendship has been such a blessing. She is honest and trustworthy. If I call her and tell her how awful my day was, she gives me a verse from the Bible to look up. Lo and behold, it is exactly what I needed to hear. I can count on her to pray for me and my family. I have recently been going through a tough time. I emailed her and called her a lot. She didn't respond with negativity or have an attitude of "I have my own problems, why do I want to hear about yours". She responds with love and wisdom. She tells me like it is. If I say something that is outrageous, she calls me out on it. I love that about her.

She has a joy that is so contagious that when you are around her you can't help but laugh and have a good time. I have been around people before that are so stiff and unwelcoming. If you say anything silly they look at you like you are crazy. Well, "Mrs. A" and I already think of ourselves as "cray cray". Haha! That is an inside joke between us.

I am also very thankful for our "girl-time" together. Once a month we try to get together to have coffee or breakfast and just relax. We can talk about ANYTHING and not feel judged. She can count on me and I on her to pray for anything going on in our lives. She is my accountability partner. If I mess up, I want her to tell me. Our "girl-time" coffee breaks are wonderful because we just sit and sip our coffee and talk about life. What our goals are, what is going on at home, what we are involved in at church. The list goes on. It is amazing how much the two of us can talk in just a short time. LOL!

This is my verse to her: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity." -Proverbs 17:17.

She is a genuine, true friend. She loves me like God loves me. Through the ugly times and the joyful times. Through the sad times and through the happy times.

Thank you for being my friend...you truly are a blessing from God in my life.

God Bless,

Kristy

{Happy Homemaker Monday 2012 #2}

The Weather:::
We had excellent weather over the weekend. But, today it has cooled down a little.

On My Reading Pile:::
Straight to the Heart of Revelation by: Phil Moore, Moments of Truth by: John MacArthur, and The Power of a Positive Wife by: Karol Ladd (excellent book!)

On My TV:::
Not too much today. I have a busy week so not much time for tv this week.

On The Menu For This Week:::
Monday- leftover hamburger soup with homemade biscuits
Tuesday- roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and peas
Wednesday- pancakes and turkey bacon (Hubby works late)
Thursday- pizza night (Hubby works late again)
Friday- spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and salad
Saturday- leftovers (possible going on a date night)
Sunday- Brunswick stew with breadsticks

On My To Do List:::
I am going to be disinfecting everything in my house today. Bear was sick all weekend with the stomach flu so we need to get those nasty germs out of here! He is better now, but it was horrible over the weekend (we even missed a birthday party and church). I am also going to be catching up on some sewing and cooking.

What I Am Sewing Or Creating:::
I am still working on my lap quilt. I will probably be done by Friday. I will post pictures when I am done.

Looking Around The House:::
I see piles of laundry from cleaning up Bear's accidents all weekend that need to be folded. I also see a clean kitchen that Hubby did for me on Saturday when I ran some errands. Thank you Hubby!

From The Camera:::

Something Fun To Share:::
My little sister is having a baby at the end of this month. She has 4 boys already ranging in age from 17 months to 7 years old. This one is finally a GIRL!!!! My mom and I are throwing her a baby "girl" shower this Saturday at my house. I can't wait. I love doing things like this! It is gonna be a lot of fun.

My Prayer List:::
My sister and her baby to have a healthy labor and delivery at the end of this month. My two boys to get completely well from the stomach bug. I pray for my friends and their families. I also pray for my family and Hubby's family to be blessed.

Bible Verse/Devotional:::
This Bible verse has been on my mind a lot for the past week:
"Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles." -Proverbs 21:23
It's a pretty good one if you ask me. I have been working on this one for a while. I think God picked this year to be the year I am quick to listen and slow to speak...instead of vice versa. LOL!

I am also reading Moments of Truth by: John MacArthur. It is a 1-year devotional. I have already gotten a lot out of it and I just started it. Wonderful book!

Have a great week!

God Bless,

Kristy

{Friday Favorites #1}

I am starting a new blog post for Friday. It is called Friday Favorites. I am linking up with Sandra over at Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. I hope you will join me. I will be posting pictures and a little write up about the item. It will be something that is around my house that I love. Or, it could be something that I want to purchase. We will see what I have in store...

This is the most wonderful little book. It is called The Little Big Book for Moms. It is so cute. It is a collaboration of children's songs, stories, poems, and recipes. The pictures are so adorable.

The pictures are colorful but they also look kinda old. I like old stuff like antiques. This book is also a bargain at about $4.00 on Amazon.

The songs come with the music to play on the piano as well. I sure do wish I had a piano. Maybe one day...

This little poem is by the author of the Winnie The Pooh series A.A. Milne. I just love it!

What girl doesn't love tea? This makes me want to have a tea party immediately. Maybe with my boys after lunch!

This little sweet poem with the picture made me tear up a little. I am going to miss my boys when they are grown up and married and moved away :'(

I am totally going to use this recipe for our next family birthday. Chocolate cupcakes with butter cream frosting sounds so yummy....mmmmm.

I hope you enjoyed my Friday Favorite. Tune in next Friday for what I have in store for you. Hope to see you then.

God Bless,

Kristy

{Thankful Thrusday Is Back}

I decided to bring back Thankful Thursday because I have so much to be thankful for in my life. I wanted to have a special place to write them all down each week. I am truly excited about the new way I am doing my blog. I am writing on it a few times a week now, just for fun, because I missed it when I wrote only reviews and serious business.

This week I am thankful for a New Year and new beginnings. I have thought about all of the resolutions people make each year and don't keep. I mean who wouldn't mind losing a few pounds (especially us mothers). We are so hard on ourselves. But God loves us just the way we are. Here are the top 10 New Year's Resolutions according to Google:

1. Spend more time with family and friends.
2. Fit in fitness (exercise more).
3. Tame the bulge (lose weight).
4. Quit smoking.
5. Enjoy life more.
6. Quit drinking.
7. Get out of debt.
8. Learn something new.
9. Help others.
10. Get organized.

Okay, so I don't smoke and I don't drink...so those two are out. Other than that, I totally agree with this list. #1 is very good. We have only a short time on this earth (compared to being in Heaven for eternity) so why not fill it with memories of all of your loved ones? That is actually the one that means the most to me. I not only want to spend more time with them, but I want to spend more time with the ones who REALLY care about me. I don't want to be around negative people, people who bring me down, people who are always in a bad mood, or people who aren't a good influence. I don't mean I won't be around them, just not as much. I want this to be the year of positive changes. I think this one goes along with #5. Enjoy life more. Don't get caught up in everyone else's problems and worries. This is a big one for me. I am going to enjoy my sweet boys and my wonderful husband.

#7 is pretty big too. Get out of debt...that is my dream. I hate having debt, but we are working on this one very hard this year. And, finally #10 is my ultimate goal for my household. We moved into this house a year and a half ago and we still don't have it the way we want it. So I told Hubby to build shelves here, move a shelf there, install new carpet in our 4th bedroom (the classroom), and so on. It's not all shelves, but that will help to get things up off of the floor. We are also going to go through all of the toys (we have like 6 toy boxes) and get rid of stuff. We will go through our clothes and donate or give away to family the ones we don't wear anymore or that don't fit. I say if you haven't worn it in a year...are you really going to ever again? Probably not.

I know I have rambled on a bit, but I just thought I would put all of this down on paper (or blog) so that I have a good starting point. I have already started on the organization. On Sunday, I began a women's devotional called 31 Days to Clean by Sarah Mae. It is so amazing. I have done a little research and found that other women who are also doing this devotional do about 3 days worth per week. If you do one per day it can get overwhelming. I am working on Day 3 today. I have already cleaned out my fridge and made a mission statement about why I clean. Here it is:

"I clean my house because God has called me to this place in my life. I want to please Him and become a Proverbs 31 woman. I also want my husband to be happy and have a peaceful haven to come home to each day. Lastly, I want to teach my children how to do the day-to-day tasks with joy in their hearts."

I am going to hang it on my fridge or frame it or something so I can see it everyday. I want to be reminded of why I do what I do everyday. I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me and my family this year. God has given us a New Year filled with new beginnings. What a sweet joy!

God Bless,

Kristy

Happy New Year!

Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas and New Year. I know we sure did. We are looking forward to what 2012 has in store for us. Hubby and I are making positive changes in our lives. I am also making a few changes to my blog. I am starting with Monday (which happens to be today!). I am now going to link up with another blog (Diary of a Stay at Home Mom). She does one called "Happy Homemaker Monday". So...here goes:

The Weather:::
Today has been sunny but cold. I don't mind though...it is winter after all.

On My Reading Pile:::
I am currently reading only one book (but have a few on the waiting list). The first one is The Daniel Fast (review will be up at the end of the week) and a devotional called 31 Days to Clean. Should be fun!

On My TV:::
Probably not much tonight. But, I did watch the movie The Help today and it was EXCELLENT! Please rent it when you get the chance.

On The Menu For This Week:::
Monday- Homemade chili
Tuesday- Nachos using the leftover chili with cheese and sour cream. Yum!
Wednesday- Homemade chicken pot pie with salad
Thursday- Sloppy joes with french fries and lots of ketchup
Friday- Chicken alfredo with salad
Saturday- Leftovers
Sunday- Hamburger soup and homemade biscuits

On My To Do List:::
Laundry, dishes, putting away all of the Christmas stuff, 31 Days to Clean!

What I Am Sewing Or Creating:::
I am working on finishing my lap quilt. I completed my first full quilt last year and decided to hand sew a small lap quilt. I should be done in about a week :)

Looking Around The House:::
I see a sink full of dishes and a pot of chili simmering on the stove. I also see lots of trains and cars and toys and books in the floor (the life of a SAHM).

From The Camera:::

Something Fun To Share:::
We had some great friends come up to visit us for New Year's Eve. We never stay up to ring in the New Year but we did this year with our friends. We had so much fun talking and laughing at all of the performers on the countdown shows. LOL! Fun times!

On My Prayer List:::
My little sister is having her 5th child at the end of this month (her first girl!!). Also, to have a blessed year and look ahead to the things to come (and not the things in my rearview mirror).

Bible Verse, Devotional:::
Well, my favorite verse is a great one to start off the New Year with. So here goes:
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future." -Jeremiah 29:11
I am reading 31 Days to Clean as my devotional...it is very good so far!

I hope you all have a great week!

God Bless,

Kristy
