A Mile In His Shoes is an inspirational movie perfect for family movie night. I watched it by myself and liked it so much I let my MIL borrow it the next day. Dean Cane plays a baseball coach for the Ohio River Rats named Arthur Murphy (Murph). He is told by his upper management that he needs to find another pitcher. He is sent to Indiana to interview this pitcher but has car trouble along the way. He meets an extraordinary kid named Michael James Tussler (Mickey). Mickey doesn't know he is a great pitcher because he lives on a farm in the country. He also has Asperger's Syndrome. Murph pays no attention to his disability and asks Mickey's parents if he can come back to Indiana with him to play on the team. When they agree Murph takes Mickey under his wing and teaches him all about baseball.
I truly enjoyed watching this story unfold. It really taught me a lot about Asperger's Syndrome and how to react to certain things they do. Murph sees through the disability and right to Mickey's heart. He teaches the whole team about how we should treat one another no matter what. It was very touching.
